ABOUT
The Jackson State University meteorology alumni have a long history of supporting meteorology undergraduate students. Since the mid 90’s meteorology alumni have supported the undergraduate students. Several scholarships have been established over the years to provide financial support. Alumni would return several times a year to speak to students about their experiences and job opportunities. Through professional connections, the alumni have created summer opportunities and supported national efforts to create programs for minority students. Alumni have helped partner students with other professionals for research opportunities that opened the door to national exposure with presentations at national and local conferences. Since 2009, Jackson State University Meteorology Alumni have developed professional development workshops to help students gain valuable experience, network with professional meteorologists and develop relationships with many of the alumni. By building lasting relationships with undergraduate students, the alumni network will continue to strengthen the Jackson State University meteorology program and support the long term need for the Blue Bengal Meteorology Alumni Association.

MENTORING
We work to build and maintain relationships with undergraduate meteorology students. We support students in many different ways.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Every five years since 2010, the Meteorology Alumni with great support from the University and the Physics Department hosted a professional development workshop. The workshops exposed students to broadcast and operational meteorologists, in addition to those in academia.
